I’m always trying to slowly move myself closer and closer to being able to use Linux on the desktop, and one of the steps I made in the past week was moving to Mozilla 1.3 with EnigMail + GnuPG.
I was very upset and promptly convinced myself to move to Mozilla after having Outlook lose /ALL/ of my contacts and mail since 1997 somehow. I have backups, but they are old and for some reason do not contain the contacts, which is the most important part to me.
Anyhow, its taken me a little while to get used to it, but so far so good. I finally switched it over a couple of days ago to be my default browser and mail client. I think the last gasp for IE for me was this stupid Xupiter client thing that somehow infested IE while I was at Astalavista or one of the sites linked within it.
I was able to get rid of it with Ad Aware, but still, I wasn’t amused. It seemed to screw-up TCP/IP somehow and left all of my sockets open.. ended-up having to do a rollback in XP as well to clean it all up.
Anyhow.. give Mozilla a chance.. it has a lot of cool stuff in it, and is much faster and stable than the last time you probably ran it– promise.
