I just found a site which has has a list of the ten geekiest hobbies, and I’m proud to say I don’t partake in any of them. About as close as I get is owning the first of the Cowboy Bebop videos (and that still would not really even qualify as a “comic book”). Ironically, this list is very similar to a line item in my personal “do never date” list (of which I’ve learned the hard way)…

I used to work with someone who was into the live action role playing poo, and half of the conversations with said person as a follow-up of something I said started off with “Oh, that reminds me of this game I was in once…” I’m still not convinced that reality is bad enough to have to resort to doing the LARP’ing, plushies, etc. Then again, I claim to be at least somewhat sane and rational from time to time.

Update 10/26/2004:

Just thought I’d throw in a little IM convo Matty and I had about the matter:

[09:24] Brandon: Nothing like geeks making sound effects and casting spells on each other, “throwing lightning bolts”, and battling it out with “sabers”
[09:25] Matt: yeah
[09:25] Matt: buying official Braveheart swords
[09:26] Matt: “It’s only 300 bucks!”
[09:26] Brandon: “Dude, I have the same fucking sword that Aragon used!!!!!!”
[09:28] Matt: “Lets go out in the field and fight! Then we can finger eachother in the ass!”
[09:30] Brandon: “Then we can play Magic.. I totally spent ALL week building the coolest deck. Prepare to die you shew!”
[09:32] Matt: “My troll is a level 7 warrior ORC! He’s got a life shield AND a glowing sword”
[09:32] Brandon: lol, nice.
[09:33] Matt: <bows>
[09:36] Brandon: “You only THOUGHT you took my knight! I have the cyclone modifier for negative 2 points damage, my balrog moves over to take on your jolly troll for 4 points of damage, and then eats him for 2 points! Now you have to crown my knight with the sword of fury!”
[09:37] Brandon: “Who’s the level 1 warrior over there without the sword of fury? Oh right, that’s you!”
[09:37] Matt: hahaha
[09:37] Matt: WOW
