[...] Looks like my hunch was right– Adobe presented Apollo at DEMO according to the live blogging of DEMO 07 provided by GigaOM. In case you haven’t heard of Apollo before, Adobe Labs describes it as “a cross-OS runtime that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills (Flash, Flex, HTML, Ajax) to build and deploy desktop RIA’s” [...]

[...] Brandon Harper also had it pegged on his blog a couple of days ago. I think it’ll be great for Adobe to show Apollo at this thing. I know Kevin Lynch is down there and I think he’ll be presenting, so it will be fun to watch the reactions of both the press and the other startups there. [...]

I caught that "Adobe" mention in the DEMO press release last night too:
http://sev.prnewswire.com/computer-electronics/20070126/AQF00426012007-1.html#

I also don't know which workgroup will be showing what there, but I do know that DEMO usually chooses to showcase things which have not been shown before: "Right before your eyes, more than 70 of the world's most promising new technologies will be unveiled for the very first time."
http://www.demo.com/

I <em>do</em> know that there are many groups within Adobe working on things which have not yet seen the light of day -- during the past year we've seen Lightroom and other projects which started before the Adobe/Macromedia merger, but there are also projects which started after the two companies formally joined together -- maybe DEMO will showcase one of these newer seed projects. I don't know, guess we'll find out next week, huh...? ;-)

Hey Brandon,
There have been a number of companies that I am aware of that have introduced interesting technologies that involved Flash or other Adobe products to one extent or another over the last few years at the DEMO events.

I know that Convoq introduced one of their products, Intellifit (a project I was fortunate enough to work on) introduced their system there, Wallop - the Flash based social networking site that spun off from Microsoft, Serious Magic now owned by Adobe introduced stuff at a DEMO event. Adobe was there in 2004 to talk about document control and Livecycle, so it seems entirely plausible that they might be there to DEMO Apollo - I think it would be great, as there are some really innovative things that have come out of these events.

I agree with Keith that we won't be seeing a public release if it is Apollo - but even if they are just there to "DEMO" Apollo - the amount of exposure and networking with other up/coming promising companies, technologies and all the press that attend this event - its going to be a great thing. I do hope it's Apollo, actually I hope its something no one has heard of yet outside of the deep bowels of the advanced research groups at Adobe. :)

I'll surely being paying attention to the exhibitors as you are 100% right very cool stuff typically coms to light at these events.

Hmm, if that's true, I wonder what it could be then? I really don't have any connections to Apollo at all, so I have no idea what status it's in. Just a total guess on my part.

Also, is Apollo really that far from public consumption even though it's been buzzed about for quite awhile now?

They might talk about Apollo, but I'm pretty confident we're not going to see a public release any time soon. Certainly not next week.
