one more thing… it detected it correctly as a “Dell 1100″ too.

The latest xubuntu (8.04) (and ubuntu flavours i assume), seem to have this driver installed already.
I just plugged in the printer and logged in and it’s already there, ready to print…
I didn’t have to configure anything.
no files to edit, no settings to change, no buttons to push. it just worked.

I’m new to linux and I was pretty happy to get everything working perfectly except for… my printer.

Now it’s fixed.
