   Sorry this isn’t a Java6 update Have a look at th notes. The key bit you’ve missed is This release updates J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.0_13. Unfortunately this is not Java6 but it is nice to see Apple continuing to support Java5 (and 1.4.2)

   Unfortunately this isn’t Java 6.
   Its release 6 of Java for Mac OS X which is an update to Java 5 and Java 1.4

   Hmmmm, i read “This release updates J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.0_13″ not java 1.6.0 just 1.5 release 6. or am i wrong?

   Is this not just an update for java 1.4 and 1.5 but the 6th update?
   no where is mentioned that it includes Java 1.6

   No, only the Quicktime update is available for Leopard.

   Better read before you post: This is not Java 6 but an update for Java 5 to version 1.5.0_13 and Java 1.4 to 1.4.2_16.

   Wait. It reads there:

   Nothing about Java 6 there. Or can you confirm it installed Java 6 too?

    If you actually read your screen shot, it is an update of Java 4 and Java 5. It does not include Java 6. Just to make sure after installing the update, I went to the command line and typed java -version and sure enough, it was Java 5.

    Thanks for getting my hopes up, then dashing them against the rocks…

    This appears to just be the 6th release of Java for OS X. Read the fine print… It only updates the system to J2SE5U13.

    Java is still a Sun Microsystems’ technology - nothing to do with Apple at all - thank Sun for finally updating it.

    Java 6 is not included in its, its Apple’s “Release 6″ of Java 1.4.2 and Java 5.

    Too bad it has absolutely nothing to do with Java 6. It’s just a 6th update for JDK 1.4.

    Nope, this is not Java 6.

    This is *sixth updater* and updates Java to 1.5.0_13 and 1.4.2_16 (it even says so in the description box). There is no Leopard version because Leopard already contains these versions.

    That is just not true. Apple still take responsibility for “porting” Sun’s releases over to OSX.

    I think what Peter is saying is that this isn’t Java 6, but Java 5 - at least according to the message window above.

    This actually looks like just an update to Java 1.4.2 and Java 1.5 (according to the details of the update).

    If you read carefully that is just an update for Java 1.4 and 5.0. Update 6 just means it’s the 6th update released from Apple for Java (1.5 I presume).

    Hey Everyone,

    I guess I should have just let it slip and read it better in the morning– it was really early and I had my hopes up about Java 6 finally being out. Sorry for the false alarm, that was dumb.

    Anyhow, I’ve updated the entry accordingly. Damn.
